The
diaphram is contoured to be thicker at the center than at the
periphery. The stiffer center acts as the tweeter, while the more
pliant boundaries produce the low frequencies...This, AKG says,
"results in lower harmonic distortion, extended bass response, and
higher maximum loudness."
With the 701s, there was no background music. Music was alive, compelling, demanding.
